After completing my academic journey in Bangalore, I returned to Kolkata unsure about what came next. To reconnect with the city, I began revisiting the streets and memories of my childhood.
One afternoon, while passing through Sealdah, a familiar aroma stopped me in my tracks — shutki. Instantly, I was transported back to my grandmother’s kitchen, where she would prepare it with love and unmatched authenticity. Those flavors stayed with me for years.
Driven by nostalgia, I bought some shutki from the local market and decided to recreate the dish using my grandmother’s old handwritten recipe book. But something felt wrong. The fish quality was poor, the smell was unusually harsh, and the water turned reddish-yellow during cleaning — a clear sign of chemical processing.

The search for that answer led me across markets and suppliers, until a visit to Andhra Pradesh changed everything. There, I discovered a thriving dried fish market offering naturally processed, high-quality shutki — clean, authentic, and rich in the same flavor I remembered from childhood. Back home, I cooked it again. And this time, it tasted exactly like those memories.That experience became the foundation of our brand. We realized that thousands of people across India share the same emotional connection with shutki — but struggle to find quality products that are authentic, hygienic, and easy to enjoy without overpowering odor or chemical treatment.
